Preparing Children for the Future
At East Preston Infant School we want our children to have happy, safe and fulfilling lives so we need to prepare them for the future and prepare them for life in modern Britain.
This is a thread that runs through everything we do on a day to day basis. It is our job to prepare them academically and socially to be the best people they can be.
We do this from the outset through our work in the curriculum and in the general life of the school and within our local community.
British Values
The curriculum actively promotes the fundamental British values of democracy, the rules of law and individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths, beliefs, cultures and lifestyles.
Specific examples of how British values are promoted are:
Democracy – school council elections; class charters Find out more about the work of our school council |
Rules of law and individual liberty – golden rules; rights and responsibilities Learn more about our rights and responsibilities |
Mutual respect and tolerance – visits from the disability group ‘The Hewson Enterprise’; visits to local churches and synagogues; assembly themes. Find out more about the disability group The Hewson Enterprise |
